Moments with Moms: With Love Andrea

Finding cool moms is a bit of a hobby for us and we’ve got a good one today. Professionally, Andrea from With Love Andrea is a dentist by day and LA style blogger by night. Personally her world recently expanded with the birth of her daughter, Carlota. We chatted with Andrea about some of her favorite places in LA and how life has changed with the addition of a little one. See Andrea’s take on her July box here and hop over to her blog for a fun giveaway today.

Tell us a little about you and your blog.

My blog is With Love Andrea and I can't believe it's almost a year old. What started as a passion for fashion and me sharing my daily outfits on Instagram soon became a fashion, lifestyle and baby blog.  When I first found out I was pregnant I was constantly on the Internet searching for maternity blogs and information. I then decided that I wanted to share my experiences of pregnancy with my own blog.

You grew up in Canada but now live in LA. What have you learned to love about LA and what are some of your favorite spots there?

Ever since I was a young girl, I had always dreamed of living in California. When I'm by the ocean I feel at peace, and I wanted to be able to experience that daily. There are many things to love about LA. I love the weather, the landscape, being within minutes of the beach, the restaurants, the active healthy lifestyle and the shopping.

I live in Brentwood and I just love walking around my neighborhood. We live on the west side and tend to stay in that area. Traffic and a newborn does not make me want to venture out of my comfort zone! We love going to Palisades Park, Runyon Canyon and San Vicente for walks. I love going to Robertson, Beverly Hills, and Montana Ave.

Carlota is absolutely darling! What are some of her favorite things these days?

She just melts my heart. She is 4 months old and at the moment she just loves being in her mama’s arms. She loves to roll over and put everything in her mouth. She loves it when we talk to her and just lights up with smiles.

How would you describe your parenting style? Do you think you parent similar or differently that your parents did?

I hope I'll have a similar parenting style to my parents. I think they had that perfect balance of discipline and trust. They protected and sheltered me while also giving me my freedom. So far Carlota already runs the household at 4 months old. Let's hope I'll be able to pull the reigns in a little as she gets older.

No matter how many books you read, some things about motherhood are just learned on the job. What do you wish you would have known about motherhood?

I’ve learned that things won't go as planned so just do the best you can and don't be so hard on yourself.

You have such a great mom style – casual yet still with some glamour. What are some of your favorite pieces these days?

These days leggings/skinny jeans and a long T-shirt or button down are my go-to. I have always loved this simple classic look prior to my pregnancy but even more now. I change up my look with my accessories and shoes. I love adding a hat or a shoe or purse with a pop of color.

You’ve been back at work for a bit now. How has the transition been?

When I first went back to work it was really tough. I cried the first few days and felt really guilty for leaving her behind. I was fortunate to only go back for 3 days a week. At the moment this feels like the perfect balance for me. I am happy to have some ME time, and it feels good to be doing what I spent all these years in school training for. I make sure to really spend quality time with her when I get home and truly appreciate my days off.

What do you want to remember about when Carlota was little?

I want to remember her cute sounds and faces.  I want to cherish all the time she wanted to spend in mommy's arms.
